Russia: US military presence in Syria impedes fight against terrorism
The Russian Foreign Ministry said the US military presence in Syria is hampering the fight against terrorism in the country.
“The US presence in Syria is not helping to eliminate international terrorists, but is a real obstacle to resolving this mission,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
The Russian president’s special envoy to Syria, Alexander Lavrentev, head of the Russian delegation to Astana negotiations, said that the indefinite presence of the United States in Syria is incomprehensible to the guarantors in Astana process “Russia, Iran and Turkey”. And the presence is worrying.
