Turkish defense Ministry: Washington’s decision to set up monitoring posts in northern Syria will further complicate the situation
Turkish Defense Minister Khulosi Akkar said:” Washington’s decision to set up monitoring posts in northern Syria would further complicate the situation.”
Khulosi Akkar, the Turkish defense minister, pointed out that his country’s forces will take the necessary measures against any threats that may come from outside the border, according to the agency “Anatolia”.
“I think this kind of move will lead to more complexity in the already complex situation in the region,” Akar said in remarks on Saturday.
“Our military and civilian counterparts have repeatedly told us that we are disturbed by the issue of setting up checkpoints in northern Syria,” he said
The Turkish minister stressed that everyone should know that Turkey will not hesitate to take the necessary steps to face the threats coming from the other side of the border.
US Defense Secretary James Matisse announced several days ago that the United States would deploy monitoring posts on Syria’s northern border to avoid clashes between the “Syrian Democratic Forces” and Turkish troops.
