After the news about the poisonous olive oil in the market…Control tightens its procedures on warehouses and shops
Local media reported rumors and serious information about the entry of 4000 packets of olive oil to the cities of the Syrian coast manufactured in Idlib and contains a substance that severely oxidizes lead to damage the digestive system and then to death.
For its part, the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection intervened through a recent circular issued by Minister Abdullah al-Gharbi, in which the directorates of internal trade in the governorates requested the withdrawal of samples of olive oil to ensure that they conform to the Syrian specifications.
The Ministry of Interior Commerce published on its Facebook page the minister’s circular, in which he demanded to tighten the control of the contemporary warehouses and shops that deal with the sale and purchase of olive oil and the withdrawal of samples to conduct the necessary analysis in order to ensure their conformity with the Syrian standard specifications and to inform the ministry of the results at the total speed.
The Ministry confirmed that the circular was based on what was recently circulated through the social networking pages about the entry of 4000 packets of olive oil to the cities of the Syrian coast manufactured in Idlib and contain a highly oxidizing material that damage the device digestive and then to death.
It is noteworthy that this is not the first time that unknown or smuggled items have entered the Syrian market, where Turkish porridge and many food products have entered the Syrian markets without health control.
