UN Special Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura expressed his concern about the outbreak of a battle in Idlib, noting that there is a great concentration of foreign fighters.
“There are mutual messages among international parties about the possibility of fighting in Idlib,” de Mistura told a news conference on Thursday. “The lives of 2.9 million people are in danger.”
“Idlib has a high concentration of foreign fighters and the highest number of al-Nusra and al-Qaeda fighters,” de Mistura said
He also explained during the conference that “no one doubts Syria’s right to regain its territorial integrity and fight terrorists such as Al-Qaeda and jibhat al-Nusra.
