Lavrov: The agreement to reduce the escalation in the south of Syria assumes the absence of non-Syrian forces
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the agreement for the south of Syria to reduce the escalation assumes that there will be no non-Syrian forces in the region, stressing that there will be no indulgence with the “Jibhat al-Nusra” and “Da’ash.”
Lavrov said that” Russia is calling on the guarantors in the region to reduce the escalation in southern Syria to stop using tricks in order not to fight the terrorists”.
He added: “Russia has fulfilled its commitments to reduce the escalation in the south of Syria and seek the same from the partners.”
After talks with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi, Lavrov said that Russia and Jordan would continue to implement agreements for reducing the escalation in the southern region of Syria, as well as combating terrorists, “the issue that remains at the top of the list of priorities.”
The southern regions of Syria include the governorates of Daraa, Quneitra and Sweida adjacent to the border with Israel and Jordan within the zone of reducing the southern escalation in July ,2017 as an agreement between Russia, the United States and Jordan.
